Cleangreen President and CEO Jitka Borowick has been selected as one of 75 recipients of the 2019 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards.
Selected by Enterprising Women Magazine, the award recognizes women business owners from around the world who have demonstrated they have fast-growth businesses; mentor or actively support other women and girls in entrepreneurship; and stand out as leaders in their communities.
“I am honored to be chosen for this award which serves as a reminder of what women can achieve here on Cape Cod when they have the support of others, the drive to succeed, and a passion for their work,” said Borowick, who launched Cleangreen in 2008.
Borowick has grown Cleangreen to the point it has its own office in Barnstable Village, a small fleet of company vehicles, and employs a year-round staff of nearly 20 people. “Without a talented, wonderful team of employees committed to providing quality residential and commercial cleaning services on Cape Cod, we would not be where are today,” Borowick said. “Our team carries out this mission while ensuring we are taking steps to protect the environment and giving back to the community in meaningful ways.”
Recipients of this year’s awards will be celebrated at a conference at the end of March at the Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that will include workshops, network opportunities, and an awards presentation.
“The recipients of the 2019 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards represent an amazing group of women entrepreneurs from across the United States and as far away as India and South Africa,” said Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women. “We are so proud to recognize their accomplishments as CEOs of fast-growth companies, community leaders, and role models and mentors to other women and girls.”
Only Cape Cod Award Winner
Borowick, who will be attending the conference, is one of only three award winners from Massachusetts and the only one on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Borowick came to the Cape in 2003 with the goal of becoming fluent in English. Five years later, she earned her associate’s degree from Cape Cod Community College and started Cleangreen as a one-person enterprise. She earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Suffolk University in 2011.
Borowick has used her position as a small business owner on Cape Cod to give back to the community. Over the past four years, Cleangreen has partnered with Cape Cod Sea Sports to support DEVO Cycling Club which offers mentorship, coaching, and need-based support to junior cyclists in the region.
Borowick is the current President of the Rotary Club of Hyannis and is the Chair of the Board of Directors for Flower Angels USA, a nonprofit which takes repurposed flowers and delivers them to those in nursing homes, senior living facilities, hospitals, and hospice care centers throughout Cape Cod. She has also served as a mentor and an advocate for WE CAN, a nonprofit that empowers women on Cape Cod.
The Enterprise Women of the Year Award is just the latest in a list of honors for Borowick who was recognized in 2016 by Cape Cod SCORE with its Small Business Owner of the Year Award and in 2017 by Eastern Bank with its Community Advocacy Award. Last year, Borowick was recognized as Cape Cod Community College’s Alumna of the Year and was also the recipient of Suffolk University’s 10 Under 10 Award which recognizes alumni, who fewer than 10 years removed from their time on campus, are making major contributions in their field and in their community
